75% of the MBAED Alumni are in educational leadership roles in New Mexico

Guiding an education system at a time in history when students cannot come together requires innovative leadership unlike ever before. Scott Elder, Albuquerque Public Schools’ Interim Superintendent, is up for that challenge.

As a third-generation Lobo graduate and a lifelong New Mexican, Scott takes pride in his work as an educator. After completing degrees in Spanish, Political Science, and Secondary Education, he returned to the University for a Master of Business Administration in Education Leadership (MBAED). This program, through the Anderson School of Management, is a distinct degree designed for current and future leaders to make impactful changes in education. He credits the program—along with classroom and administrative experience—with allowing him the opportunity to be an effective educational leader in extraordinary times.

Leading one of the country’s largest school districts with approximately 80,000 children enrolled, Scott knows his position at the helm is critical in supporting the frontline workers of APS and the families they serve. Scott, together with exemplary teachers, administration and staff, works tirelessly to create a productive—and sometimes unconventional—learning environment for every student in their charge.
