PUTTING EDUCATION INTO ACTION DURING A CRISIS

Bachelor of Business Administration, Master of Public Health, 2021 Concentration in Epidemiology

100+ UNM students have worked with the NM Department of Health during the COVID-19 crisis.

As she works toward her Master of Public Health degree, graduate student Melissa Judson is spending her college career preparing for worldwide health crises.

She’s putting her education into action by working with the NM Department of Health. Alongside others, she’s taken on the monumental task of connecting with the latest COVID-19 patients in New Mexico. By gathering data from cases across the state, she contributes vital information to shape the health policies and procedures that protect all New Mexicans.

At UNM’s College of Population Health—among the first of its kind in the nation—students receive a groundbreaking education. Because of New Mexico’s vast landscape of cultures and communities, UNM faculty are able to provide unparalleled experiences in public health—an opportunity seized by students like Melissa.
